Justin Marshall Memorial Scholarship

What:  Justin Marshall Memorial Scholarship

$1,000.00 Educational Scholarship to be awarded annually to the Inglemoor High School Varsity Baseball Player who best exemplifies the characteristics of Justin Marshall.  Preference to be given to senior players, but the Scholarship Committee, established by the Inglemoor High School Baseball Booster Club, reserves the right to award the scholarship to a non-senior varsity player.  Players are only eligible to receive the scholarship once.

Committee:

The committee to select the recipient for the 2024 Year will include Varsity Coach Chris Foss, JV Coach Kory Kohlwes, family member Jeff Marshall, IHS Athletic Director Kealey Stanich, IHS Baseball President Mandie Neher, and an additional Inglemoor Baseball Booster member.  No person who has a player eligible for the scholarship shall serve on the committee.

Funding:

Scholarship is to be funded by the Inglemoor Baseball Boosters through hosting an annual Justin Marshall Memorial Charity Baseball Game.

Funds to be held in a dedicated bank account and administered by the IHS Baseball Booster Club.

Criteria:

Looking for the player who best exhibits characteristics of Justin Marshall; an athlete who has strong work ethics, demonstrates leadership, demonstrates teamwork, and acts with integrity.  Seniors will be give first consideration, but the committee reserves the right to award the scholarship to a non-senior player.  Players are only eligible to receive the scholarship once.  Eligible candidates must be on track to graduate.

2017-18 Season:  All Senior Varsity Baseball Players will automatically be in consideration for the Justin Marshall Scholarship.  No application required.

2018-19 and beyond:  All eligible Senior Varsity Baseball players (and Juniors when applicable) will be required to submit an essay to IHS Baseball Boosters telling the committee how they exhibit the characteristics of the Justin Marshall Scholarship including: A strong work ethic, leadership, teamwork, integrity, and a love of the game.  Copies of the essays will be given to the Marshall family.  Coaches and Athletic Director will not be given access to the essays until after the recipient has been determined.

Scholarship recipient must prove funds will be going for post high school educational purposes.  Education purposes include, but are not limited to, four-year colleges or universities, junior/community colleges, trade schools or training programs.

Scholarship Announcement:

Scholarship recipient will be announced at the IHS Baseball Team End of Season Event mid-May of each year.
